SPRING DECORATING TIPS:
Spring is here! It's time to open up the windows, air out
the house, and start your spring cleaning! Don't forget to
start your spring decorating too. Bring fresh flowers inside
to liven up your rooms and chase away the winter blues! Be
creative with your flower containers. Use china pitchers,
old teapots that have no lid, watering cans, old mason jars,
enamel ware-anything that can hold water and flowers. This
allows you to incorporate your own style as well as save
money by using what you have around the house. Thinking
'outside of the box' for everyday household items can result
in beautiful displays and creative new uses for items that
will 'wow' your friends and family.
LADY OOLONG'S 'RUN FOR THE ROSES'
TEA
Now that it's spring it's time to go outside and enjoy
the spring flowers, blooming trees, and the warm weather.
Why not host a Kentucky Derby Tea for friends and family?
Serve cucumber sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies and
dip and any other finger foods that you enjoy. Prepare a
loose leaf mint sweetened iced tea. Serve it with a fresh
sprig of mint in tall frosted glasses. Require attendees to
dress in proper attire to include hats. Have a hat contest
for the most creative hat. Red roses and/or rose petals
should adorn tables. Begin the party about an hour before
the running of the race and then provide seating so that
everyone can watch the race comfortably. To make this a
charitable event consider contacting your favorite charity
to learn what they may need (for example, a local animal
shelter may need pet food or old blankets, a children's
shelter may need toiletries or stuffed animals). Suggest
that party guests bring an item that will be donated to the
charity.
